How everything started..
I suppose it all started around 1986 with the Movie "Highlander". These beautiful pictures of the Highlands of Scotland mixed with the sound of Bagpipes gave me "Goosebumbs" and also this nice shiver that goes down your spine.
In 1989 my friend Tom and I decided to spend 1 week in England. After we visited London we drove to Camebridge. We had a pint (or two) in the local pub when we decided to leave England and go to Scotland (that was on Sunday Night). On Monday we drove the long way up to Loch Ness. It took us around 12 hours to get there but the trip was absolut fab. The weather was very nice with blue sky and warm temperatures.
We passed Glasgow and used the A82 to drive up North. After we arrived in Glencoe we couldn't stop saying "Wow !". The deep blue sky, the few clouds and the green hills left a deep impression inside me. At Loch Ness we hired a Caravan for one Night and went down to the Loch for a wee "Swim". Boy, that was cold ;). But we survived that - thanks to the Whisky that kept our body temperature above freezing point.
We ended the day in a car driving around "Loch Ness". That took a while because the Loch is around 22 Miles long - very interesting are the single track roads especially if you drive them in the dark without knowing where to go - that gives the whole trip an very exiting touch.
We left Loch Ness the next Morning (Tuesday) to drive to Dover (which is on the South Coast of England). That was a VERY long trip. We arrived in Dover at around 4 AM and slept like "Stones" in the car near the Ferry Terminal.
After we went on the ferry we knew that we have to go back to Scotland for a longer Holiday..

Living in the Highlands of Scotland
